If you're a fan of point n' click games then, boy, do I have a doozy for you. The Detail is a classic 2D point n' click game developed by Rival Games "where TV series execution meets interactive story-driven gameplay, with graphic novel stylings." Phew. That's a lot to promise gamers so let's see just how epic this game hopes to be.
The story revolves around Reginald "Reggie" Moore, a veteran detective frustrated with the lack of justice, and Joseph "Joe" Miller, a former informant now dragged back into the life of crime he barely escaped. The storyline has largely been kept under wraps, but we know that it will center around a brutal gangland murder.
The gameplay will focus heavily on storytelling, forcing the player to make tough choices and deal with the consequences. Apparently you'll end up either "running homicide investigations or running from homicide investigations." Yup, that sounds tough.
The game borrows from, and is inspired by, some television and gaming classics. Just like in Heavy Rain, players will be doing their fair share of investigating, with crime scene investigations being based on realistic police procedures. Similar to The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, players will get to live out an episodic interactive storyline and will have to deal with unfortunate consequences. And finally, the game will combine a gritty cop drama (inspired by The Wire) with graphic novel art.
If that doesn't excite you then I don't know what will.
The Detail's first episode will be out later this year, although it does say Q2 2014 on it's website so keep an eye out. Check out the trailer below for more.
