A Personality Quiz That's Scarily Accurate

By Alex Morrison

There's a personality quiz floating around the internet right now, and it's surprisingly accurate.

Using a personality trait analysis of the words you use in Facebook comments, posts and updates, the quiz matches those words with word lists corresponding to psychologists' established notions of the five main personality traits - extraversion, openness, agreeableness, neuroticism and conscientiousness.

After you run your analysis, Five Labs, the company behind the quiz, creates a list of adjectives to describe you. You can see from the picture above that I was labelled 'assertive', 'easy going' and 'analytical'. Maybe 'assertive' is a stretch, but I agree with the results overall.

You can also compare your graph with others. Here are a couple of mine.

Before you dismiss the quiz as something of gimmick and inaccuracy, taking it is a sort of eye-opener. You may be introspective and think you know yourself well, but it's different when you have someone online telling you who you are in accurate detail.

You can take the test here.
